THE MUGHAL EMPIRE
Where the policies od Aurangzeb the main reason for the downfall of the mughal empire? explain your answere. [14]
One the reasons was Arungzabs attitude towards the Non-Muslims.He reimposed the tax on Non-Muslims 'jazia'. This was not welcomed by the non-muslim communities as they were not accustomed pay taxes. Therefore he lose support from the non-muslim community and this eventually led towards the slow and gradual decline of the mughal empire.
Another reason was hos policy expanding his empire south wards where he had to fight the Marrathas. He was unable to give a substential blow to the marrathas through out his life time and these wars 'Deccan Wars' raged for more then 20 years. These long and costly wars almost emptied the mughal treasury and hence destroyed the mughal economy which led to its decline. Furthermore because of these wars the military strength of the mughals greatly decline as alot of experienced military gernal were slain in the battles, thus this led to a weakening in military experties and resulted in the decline of the mughal epmire.

However there were other reasons too
One of the reasons was the strength of the british who had recently gone trough the industrai, revolution which resulted in them having mored equipments and weapons. therefore the britsh found its easy to defeat the indians who were using there tridiontal weapins and hence this led to the downfall of the mughal empire. The britsh military leaders were also experienced and found came up with knew stratigies which the mughal gernals could not counter. Therefore due to the hight of the military experties of the britsh which the mughals were not able to match the mughal empire decline.
Thirdly since britin was the super power of that time it had experienced and confident soldiers who were not ready to lose where as the indians were dis united and their moral wasn't good. Therefore the mughal soldiers found it immpossible to defeat the confident and experienced britsh soldiers and hence led to its decline.

Another reason was that the mughal empire was very huge. It was often months after a rebillion had broken out that the emperor know, this greatly decreased its administrative efficiency. Therefore the bad administration of the empire due to its size led to the downfall of ME.

Yet another reason was the introduction of the mun sab dari system by aurengzab. This system was only partly successful as the mun sab dar took advantage of their positions. Thus the couse resentment on the local people who were treated unfairly by the munsubdairs and this led to the downfall of the mughal empire.
